The new Studio!!!: Tacoma portrait photographer

www.erinnhargisphotography.comSo I am kind of freaking out a little bit!!!! I have a studio space!!!!!

It has been over a year since I have been “live” with my business. Never once have I thought about looking into studio space. After all, I am a natural light photographer, and LOVE to do pictures outside!!! I am not one for super posy pictures that one can get by going to the local mall. For some crazy reason, I changed my mind.

Last weekend Gabe, Jackson and I went out on a hunt for a tiny chair that I could use for children’s photography. That search took us to downtown Tacoma’s antique row. We looked a bit, but I was saving my favorite place for last–Sanford and Son. If you have ever done antiquing on antique row in Tacoma, you know the place. It is a gorgeous, intriguing three story antique shop. Every floor has tons of interesting nooks and crannies. It is such a cool building and I enjoy walking through it just because it is such an interesting space! We walked down all three floors and after visiting the two story library in the basement (possibly one of my favorite spots in the entire city), we walked up the grand staircase. At the top of the stairs, there were two french doors opening to (what appeared to be) a vacant room. Immediately my interest was sparked and I hadn’t even reached the top of the stairs yet! I walked directly into the room, did a once over, looked at Gabe and said, “I need this room”. I don’t know what it was, maybe the location at the top of the stairs (peeking my interest as I climbed my way up), maybe the exposed brick wall or the stunning light that was flowing through the room. Whatever it was, I wanted it.

Well–I got it!

Getting this studio doesn’t mean that I will stop taking pictures outdoors. What it does mean, is that I have more opportunity. The obvious plus to a studio space is that we live in Washington! Land of rain! Now that I have this space, I am not at the beck and call of Steve Pool. Also, I now have a place that I can “up the ante”, on fun background ideas that I have been collecting over the last year! Finally, (and this one is most important to me), I have a great space for boudoir photo sessions. Something happens to me during a boudoir session that I cant describe eloquently. They are just SO much fun and it is amazing to capture women feeling empowered! This studio is PERFECT for that! I can’t even begin to tell you how many times the phrase “Yes! I love!”, “Work it!” and “I am dying right now!” will be said in this space!

Obviously, my excitement levels are over the top (but then again, so am I)! I can’t wait to start using it. Most importantly, I cant wait to capture incredible images of my amazing clients!
